Pennsylvania Strip Mall Gas Line-Fueled Fire Damage Estimated Up To $1.5M

Multiple crews have spent nearly 12 hours battling a large fire at Churchill Center in Penn Hills.

The fire broke out Sunday night. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the businesses in the plaza.

The roof of the plaza collapsed around 9:45 p.m.

Seven firefighters were taken to a hospital. As of Monday morning, they have all been treated and released.

Some of those who were injured were trapped beneath debris after an explosion.

Several businesses in the plaza were destroyed. According to the Penn Hills fire chief, there is an estimated $1.2 million to $1.5 million in damage.
